AutismTown is a Web-based initiative of talkAutism. which created and developed this virtual gathering place for the autism community.
AutismTown also serves as an interactive fundraising initiative to
help support talkAutism′s ongoing online resource development.
AutismTown helps bring promising personal health record services, offered by talkAutism at no charge via Caring Technologies, to assist families in their daily struggle.
This service will enable families to more easily navigate the
complex multi-doctor and multi-educator responsibilities for their
children with autism and participate in ongoing research without the
stress of travel. AutismTown is a town square, a front porch, a familiar and comfortable place among those who are affected by autism. It′s a lot like your community, where hope, help and understanding are right next door--and just a click away.
AutismTown should give you a sense of the diverse and wonderful families and faces dealing with autism in its many forms.

Who is AutismTown?
AutismTown is you! Designed as a collaborative, virtual community effort,
AutismTown is populated by individuals, families and organizations from around the country. By sharing your story or purchasing a pixel plot in
AutismTown, you become a citizen, neighbor and shareholder in this online co-op, which is creating a network of support and moving research forward.
What is a pixel plot and how are they "real estate"?
A pixel plot is a homestead or storefront in AutismTown. Pixel, short for "picture element," is the basic unit that combines to create a video or computer image.
Reserving space on our homepage costs $1 per pixel, and is done in blocks of 100
pixels (10x10). These "pixel plots" serve as our real estate lots, easy chairs, corner shops or anywhere that people generally gather in a town to share news. We invite you to stake your claim in our community and our fight to unlock the mysteries of autism by purchasing a pixel plot. AutismTown
is your neighborhood and your home. Once you purchase a pixel, it's
yours as long as AutismTown exists (min. 5 years).
As the owner of a pixel plot in AutismTown, you can:
- Post a photo of your child and your family, tell your story and share your strength.
- Post your association′s logo and provide a direct link to your Web site.
- Post your organization′s logo and provide an update on your latest autism-related project for education, research and treatment.
- Post words of encouragement, thoughts of hope or even vent a little with decorum and sensitivity. Your opinions, and your words, will reach those who care, who are interested and who just may be in a position to do something about your concerns.
Initially we accepted in-kind contributions from affiliated autism organizations in exchange for temporary recognition on the homepage. This is no longer the case, however, and temporary images may have been removed to make way for paying donors.
